Wednesday, February 28th, 2007 by Tim

There are so many people across the world each day who find themselves struggling with their weight and with methods that can help them to shed unwanted pounds; if you are one of these people, then you can rest assured in knowing that you do not have to search anymore – weight loss herbs can help you to quickly and easily lose all of that unwanted weight.

What are Weight Loss Herbs?

Weight loss herbs are the specific herbs that are used to treat weight problems, and there are several weight loss herbs in particular that are the most common, and these are the ones that you will want to learn about first.

The most well known weight loss herbs of all are: chickweed, dandelion, sassafras bark, yellow dock, buchu, cleavers, flax, horsetail, marshmallow, and alfalfa, for instance. However, it should be known that some say that none of the herbs in this description actually have proven to be helpful in regards to weight loss, and so you will want to do your own research and try it out for yourself to see if they do you any justice.

If you are wondering where you can go to get these sorts of herbs so that you can use them for yourself, then really all you have to do is go to your local health food store, and speak to the professional that is working there, as they will be able to give you the best and most knowledgeable firsthand opinion in regards to what herbs would work best for you in your particular case.

Everyone is different, and so what works for one person may not work for you, and so this is why you will not only want to speak to the person working at the health food store but also to your own doctor, so that you can work together and figure out the best solution in your particular circumstance.

Basically, despite all of the mixed messages that surround herbs such as this and herbs in general, for some they can truly be strong allies in your fight against fat; however, you also need to remember regardless, that you need to eat healthily and get a proper amount of exercise in order for anything positive to come out of this, and so you cannot just take the herbs and expect them to work miracles, but they can be a huge help in regards to the matter of you losing weight overall.

Eat Garlic and Skip the Flu !

Since it is cold and flu season, I thought another short post about avoiding the flu was in order. Anything to avoid the flu right. Well I saw this little snippet in First Magazine. Thought it was very interesting.

“A clove of crushed garlic is a top source of immune-boosting allicin. (In fact, the only way to activate the antioxidant is by chopping raw garlic.) Allicin increases the body’s production of white blood cells to fight off bacterial and viral infections. In one British study, participants who had a daily dose of allicin were 57 percent less likely to catch a cold.”

Herbal Supplements and Prescription Medications

As the popularity of herbal supplements continues to rise, so should awareness about the dangers. Drug-Herb interactions do not occur because of a chemical reaction between the drug and herb components, which produces a toxic material. Instead, these interactions can be a result of herb components causing a decrease or increase in the quantities of drug in one’s bloodstream. The best way to avoid any complications and side effects, talk to your doctor. He will be able to tell you if the herbal supplement and medicine are compatible.
Don’t let this scare you, herbal medicine is still an excellent alternative to some prescription medicines as well as in conjunction with your medication so long as you have the combinations monitored by your physician.
