Throughout the ages people have searched for what is known as the fountain of youth. According to legend there is a fountain sprouting miraculous waters and anyone who finds that fountain and drinks from that water will have eternal youth. Many searchers throughout the ages have tried to find this fountain, but until today its whereabouts are still unknown.

Although this wonderful fountain has not yet been found, the search goes on to find something that will be able to keep us young by helping with the anti aging process. Today, many products and procedures claim to reverse or slow down the aging process. These products and procedures include natural remedies, creams, injections and plastic surgery.
The foods that we eat may have the answer to all our questions. These foods may be the natural solution to help in the anti aging process. These foods can be broken down into two basic categories. Those categories include fruits and vegetables.
Fruits
There are certain fruits that have shown promise in this search for the anti aging process. Those fruits include apples, strawberries, grapes and raspberries. Researchers have discovered that these particular fruit products contain ellagic acid. Ellagic acid is a nature’s natural insect repellent found in various plants
Ellagic acid may be one substance to hinder the growth of tumors in the body. This hindrance of tumor growth is accomplished by the ability of the acid to minimize the enzymes, within the body, that are utilized by mutated cancer cells.
Cantaloupe, peaches and apricots have all been shown to contain valuable anti aging ingredients. These fruits contain antioxidant properties known as lycopene. These antioxidants guard the body’s cells from damage caused by free radicals. Additionally these fruits have demonstrated their effectiveness in protecting certain organs of the body. These organs include the heart, bladder and skin.
If you want a younger skin, then the apple might be just the right fruit for you. Initial testing has indicated that apples stimulate the production of collagen. The production of collagen is necessary for the skin to maintain its elasticity which can minimize the wrinkling of the skin.
Vegetables
There are also certain vegetables that have shown their worth in the anti aging process. Vegetables such as carrots, spinach and sweet potatoes have also demonstrated antioxidant capabilities.
Soy beans and alfalfa sprouts have been identified to contain a substance called genistein. This substance inhibits the production of enzymes that have been identified as stimulants that activate the cancer genes.
